Photo opportunities were everywhere one looked during a Black Lives Matter rally Sunday in Bricktown. Whether destined for social media or a local-TV news report, smartphones and digital cameras were held aloft to capture the images, words and general atmosphere of the movement’s message.

Perhaps tellingly, it seemed the only people without cameras actively recording the event were the Oklahoma City police on hand tasked with maintaining the peace.

The OKCPD’s union is negotiating details about the city’s body cam program.
