Bud Scott
Bud Scott is the executive director of New Health Solutions Oklahoma. (NonDoc)

For years, Bud Scott has worked in and studied the medical cannabis industry, but he used to make a common joke to friends in his home state.

“Oklahoma will legalize medical marijuana when Utah does, and they will be the last two states to do so,” Scott found himself saying for the better part of a decade.

But now, with Oklahoma voters facing a chance to greenlight medical cannabis by passing State Question 788 on the June 26 ballot, Scott believes the issue’s momentum highlights how much public opinion has changed in recent years. For instance, voters in Utah will also vote on the question this year.

Scott joined the How We Got Here podcast team on Thursday, May 31, to discuss SQ 788 and the efforts of his organization — New Health Solutions Oklahoma — to create a proper regulatory framework comparable to other successful medical marijuana programs across the country.
