Each municipality in the state is different with how it provides information online. Some city sites are more complicated than others, so with the information below we tried to present it as simply as possible.
File open records requests
The Oklahoma Open Records Act requires public bodies to respond to requests for documents or information. Such requests can be made by any citizen, not just journalists. The act applies to county government as well, and it has exemptions.
But do us a favor: Don’t just flood Oklahoma County with broad requests fishing for random information. Be strategic and narrow in your requests, as a limited number of staff are processing everyone’s submissions.
