Cheerio! John Oliver returns with ‘Trump vs. Truth’

321

Back for its fourth season, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver focused its 2017 premiere episode on the only topic at the tip of everybody’s tongues: President Donald Trump. The thrust of the episode, titled Trump vs. Truth, took the 30,000-foot view of Trump and his relationship to reality itself.

In a nod to traditional journalism practices, perhaps, Oliver led the top of his Trump vs. Truth segment with a handful of queries taken from the five Ws:

  1. How did we get a pathological liar in the White House?
  2. Where are his lies coming from?
  3. Why do so many people believe him?
  4. What can we do about it?

With regard to the last question, there’s not much to say that wouldn’t spoil the joke. Just know that the Last Week team already has a plan in action, and it’s targeting The Donald’s favorite news source: TV.
