Ralph Shortey
Former Oklahoma State Sen. Ralph Shortey sought sex from "young males" on Craigslist. (NonDoc)

(Editor’s note: The following article and embedded document include graphic language concerning the alleged sexual communications of Ralph Shortey, some of which involve teenagers. Those not wishing to read such details should be warned.)

With former state senator Ralph Shortey indicted and facing trial in federal court on three counts of child pornography and one count of child sex trafficking, more details have emerged about the disgraced politician’s unsettling alleged sex life.

A 32-page document is publicly available on PACER.gov, and it includes the 28-page probable cause affidavit written by FBI agent Charles Thumann in support of a search warrant to access Facebook records.

NonDoc has chosen to post the full court document — embedded below — to shine further light on the serious nature of the charges against Shortey. As stated above in our editor’s note, the details are graphic, and the language attributed to Shortey is crass and salacious.

Readers should be aware that the background information of the case — which begins on page 14 of the affidavit (PDF page 18) — may make them uncomfortable. The name of the teenager with whom Shortey was initially caught in a Moore hotel room was redacted prior to release of the document.

For those sensitive to the graphic language in the document below, Nolan Clay’s story on NewsOK.com offers a more delicate and thorough recap.

‘Attempting to solicit young males’

One key case element in the document below involves Shortey’s alleged use of the pseudonyms “Jamie Tilley” and “Brian Tilley.” FBI investigators found the latter name as a Facebook account matching a cell phone registered to the Shortey family. They also discovered an AOL email account containing child pornography.

Among the affidavit’s most obscene details are Craigslist advertisements attributed to Shortey by the FBI agent’s investigation. One such example follows:

On March 28, 2017, Moore Police provided the FBI with additional Craigslist ads obtained pursuant to the search warrant issued by the District Court of Cleveland County, Oklahoma. These ads are very similar to what is described above — Shortey was attempting to solicit young males for sexual contact. Several of the ads were posted during the six-month period when [REDACTED] was in a rehabilitation facility. One of those ads said Shorty (sic) was looking for 5-10 men under the age of 40 and that he was “offering this young tight twink” for a “straight or bi gang bang.” The post explains that the person he was offering “is 21 (looks 18)” and has “an amazing boy pussy.” He described the “boy” to be small and fit, “an amazing cock sucker and even better at getting fucked,” and explained that he was “trying to get 5-10, he can last and everyone will have their turn (or multiple turns). . . . My kik name is brinokc4u.” Law enforcement has not identified that person.

Kik is a free messenger app that has faced criticism for the role it can play in child sexual exploitation.
