COMMENTARY
Facebook Cambridge Analytica
(Mike Allen)

Remember the good old days when your Facebook feed consisted of nothing but videos of cats and people insulting each other back and forth, one paragraph at a time?

Those were simpler times.

With the news surrounding Cambridge Analytica this past week — and there are many angles to that story — and Facebook’s kinda-sorta response to it, I feel like we are seeing a company having to take a hard look at itself. I don’t think this news is particularly surprising to many people, but it is big in the greater conversation about how data is gathered and used.

Going forward, I’m not sure what Facebook can do to keep their platform from devolving this way. I’m just hoping users will be slightly more conscious of these processes in the future.
