Father's Day
(Mike Allen)

I look back on my childhood fondly. Living carefree, enjoying the energy and wonder of the world, I took everything in with excitement. Times were better then.

Fortunately or unfortunately, however, I have a very good memory. So if I think about it, my childhood really wasn’t any different than any other point in my life. There were plenty of chores to do, tons of school work to be concerned about, and at times a general anxiety feeling about social situations. Good and bad I suppose.

“Well, at least I didn’t have bills to worry about,” I might say to myself. But then I also think, “I can go buy a pizza and eat the whole thing, anytime I want as an adult.”

All this is to say that my parents have been a consistently good force in my life. I’m glad we have days like Father’s Day and Mother’s Day so I can focus on just how great they are.
