I happened to pass by the mural on the new building in the Plaza District the other day, and it got me thinking about just how many murals have been painted around Oklahoma City in the past few years.
We’ve seen a sort of Renaissance in this area, and with street murals coming soon, it looks like it’s not slowing down. It’s a great thing, I think, that so many local businesses and the city are investing in public art. It provides a spice to any commute, and makes dull buildings more appealing at a pedestrian level.
If OKC is embarking upon some sort of “mural society,” it seems to stand in a stark contrast to the past as well.
