curling Olympics
(Mike Allen)

Two days ago, I realized I know almost nothing about winter sports and, by extension, the Winter Olympics. Skiing and ice skating are fairly straight-forward, however, the real fun in learning about these games comes from sports like curling.

There was a time — I want to say eight years ago — where America had its “Haha, what’s that weird sport?” moment with curling. It was featured in segments on just about every daytime show, and nightly news shows. I didn’t watch much television then, so it sat on the periphery of my sports knowledge all this time. It is, however, fun to watch at it’s highest competitive level, and while I don’t plan on learning all of the ins and outs of the sport, I can still enjoy it nonetheless.
