Are we there yet?
This election season sure has felt like a cross-country road trip with screaming children in the back seat asking for votes rather than bathroom breaks. As we approach our final destination, here’s hoping for peaceful transitions of power so we can all catch our breath after Election Day.
Until Tuesday, however? Our mailboxes will continue to be flooded by local candidates and nasty PACs. Text messages will come in twice with the same endorsement. Online and on TV, the political attack ads will rage on for races that aren’t even in our state.
Ideally, we’d like to think these (often) inconveniences will go away for another two years or four years, but that’s not the case. In December, candidates will formally file for Oklahoma’s 2025 municipal and school board elections, so buckle up for that, too. NonDoc’s reporters are.
As we close out #election2024, the mailer madness remains exhausting in its relentlessness, but one saving grace may be that the printed ads are likely recyclable. That means they’re not all literally examples of garbage politics, despite how it might seem.
