Reporting from Mogaadishuuuuu…
By Kariuki wa NyamuÂ
Grenades are hurled! Bullets meet bullets, in
human raids and sink deep into flesh, as rifles take final assault!
Men perish in State’s rescue mission, of women and children!
Damn helpless as they’re crudely massacred, in dark of night
and early in first light mist,
we hear another blast of bomb!
Oi!
When will
peace reign in the horn of Afrika?
To end ages of bloodshed, and wash away foul stains, of agonies
of heart and soul, so that children here will henceforth jubilate of
return of peace and harmony?
Since it isn’t their desire to live in Daadab
refugee tents, miles and
miles off home!
Alas!
For heaven’s sake, why on earth would these friends of bloodshed, pitilessly
ration anguish and ambush on this war-torn
continent
of Afrika?
Nevertheless, their only
supplication stands,
never again! Never again shall terrorists seize assault rifles to squash them callously,
all along oceanic trail, and the monsoons of peace will blow
towards horn of Afrika
and perpetually reign.
